Thank Goodness for LITTLE Girls...

So, many people lament the fact that girls are growing up too fast today and are too sexualized at a young age.

I see a lot of that around here. The girls in the school are 10-11 when they come and 13-14 when they leave. In between grade 6 and grade 8, they do a lot of growing, both emotionally and physically.

However, sometimes, they're still just little girls, thank goodness. Yesterday I was working with the dance group that I'm taking to the school dance festival. One of the moves I put in the dance was a Shakira-like hip swivel - one slow, then two fast while rotating your body a complete 360. I'll wait while you give it a shot.

Ok, so many of the grade 8s picked it up very quickly and looked pretty good doing it. Some of their hip action would make a pole dancer jealous. However, three of the younger girls stayed after class and asked for help with that particular move. I wasn't sure whether to be dismayed that they couldn't get the move, or thrilled that they couldn't move their bodies in a somewhat "sexy" way.

However, I had to stifle a laugh.While some of the girls reminded me of pole dancers, these girls reminded me of another pole -- the South Pole.
